LSBUD exhibiting at the IGEM Annual Conference and Engineering Update 2016

The Annual Conference and Engineering Update hosted by the IGEM is one of the highlights of the events calendar and will build on the theme of last year’s conference “What next for the gas industry?”

The event will take place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on the 13th and 14th of September.

The core message that came out of the 2015 conference was “gas is central to the future of a low carbon, value for money energy market.” Bringing together leading voices in the discussion over the UK’s energy future it focused on sustainable solutions to help the country meet its carbon cutting targets.

Over the past 12 months there has been growing demand amongst the gas industry for IGEM to take a more proactive role in representing the industry both in the UK and internationally. In particular there is a requirement to readdress the issue that the gas industry is being marginalised by both Government within its policy thinking and also by other representative bodies who represent the wider energy sector.

This is a 2 day conference with Day 1 focused on the wider policy and regulatory framework for the future of the industry and providing an opportunity for the gas industry to respond to the various reforms proposed. The target audience is government, key decision makers across the industry and senior managers from the UK gas sector.

Day 2 is centred on innovation and engineering. It will also aim to share best practice advice with a programme targeted at engineers, project managers, designers, consultants working in the industry and academia.
