Stephan Parra – The loss of a great person and a member of the LSBUD family from the very start
It is with profound and deep sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Stephan Parra, our friend, colleague and longstanding member of the LSBUD team. Stephan died following a heart attack on Monday 23rd March 2026.
Steph played a pivotal role in shaping LSBUD from its earliest days, and his contribution to both the organisation and the wider industry cannot be overstated.
Many in our industry will have benefited from solutions that Steph engineered, often without realising it. While the technology is visible, the innovation and problem-solving behind it were very often his work. Those who worked closely with Steph know that many of LSBUD’s greatest achievements would not have been possible without his insight, expertise, creativity and dedication.
Steph joined the organisation through our parent companies, bringing with him a background grounded in safety, integrity and technical excellence. From the outset, he approached every challenge with determination and ingenuity. Whether establishing new operational processes, designing system architecture or enabling complex technical undertakings, he consistently delivered results that exceeded expectations.
During the early years of the joint venture, we operated very much as a small, highly focused team. Despite limited resources and facing organisations many times our size, Steph’s capability and resilience ensured that LSBUD could compete—and succeed—against far larger and better resourced competitors. Challenges that initially appeared insurmountable regularly became opportunities for innovation under his leadership.
Steph was known for his practicality, reliability and understated manner. He supported colleagues generously, sharing his knowledge while remaining modest about his own contributions. His technical capability was matched by a dry sense of humour and an approachable style that made working with him both productive and enjoyable.
Steph was a keen cyclist and had undertaken significant challenges, including cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats—a reflection of the energy and determination with which he approached every aspect of life. His unexpected passing is profoundly difficult to comprehend, and he will be deeply missed across the organisation.
Above all, Steph was devoted to his family, who were a central source of pride and joy in his life. Our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.
On behalf of LSBUD, we extend our sincere gratitude for everything Steph contributed to our organisation. His impact will endure in the systems he helped build, the people he supported and the standards of excellence he embodied.
We will remember him with respect, appreciation and deep affection.
May he rest in peace.
