The Monthly LSBUD Guesstimate Game
The Team here at LSBUD are a supportive, friendly and collegiate group but we can also be a competitive bunch, be it the football rivalry between Kaz & Richard, Fionn with his golf & cricket or Laura with pretty much everything…
Whilst this helps drive us forward in our mantra of Safe Digging for All, it also allows us to have some fun and games along the way.
And one team challenge that brings everything together is the Monthly LSBUD Guestimate Game. At the beginning of each month everyone is asked to submit their best guess as to how many third party enquiries will be made on our systems that month and this is tracked against the systems own forecast.
Although there are no prizes at stake except for some personal pleasure in getting close to the mark, it is fascinating to see the differing approaches taken by elements of the team.
Are Marketing (Laura & David) naturally more optimistic than Technical (Kaz)?
Do the User & Member engagement team (Sam & Mel) have an inside track?
Does knowledge of the industry help John & Sarah?
Or does your time spent with LSBUD make a difference? In which case Steph should be the runner to watch, when he can remember to submit a guess, of course….
All of the above can be true but usually not.
Although it must be noted that Sam, who has worked on both User and Member engagement has had a particularly successful run in 2023….however that may be down to her love of a spreadsheet.
One thing that is clear is that the numbers keep rising; 10% growth on enquiries year on year and March 2023 broke all records for searches with over 150,000 more searches submitted in 2023 than at this same point in 2022.
Now if anyone out there wishes to take up the challenge, please feel free to send us your guesses…these are ours for August…just don’t follow my lead as I’ve yet to come even close….
