What happens after submitting a LinesearchbeforeUdig enquiry?

Once you have entered all the Enquiry Details and marked out the location on the map, you will be able to click the blue Submit button at the bottom of the form to finalise the ticket:

The next page is a Summary of the processed job:

This displays:

  • The Enquiry Type and LSBUD Ref number
  • The enquiry’s details
  • The contacted/affected utility members’ phone numbers:
  • Optional lists of uncontacted/unaffected utility members, and non-member utilities

There are further Actions at the top right of the summary if needed:

  • Continue enquiry: this option is intended for large enquiries where the work site exceeds the limits allowed for a single enquiry map.
  • Resubmit: select this option if a previous LSBUD job has expired and fresh plans are required for the same dig site.
  • History: shows logs related to this job, e.g. if it has been resubmitted or continued previously.
  • Download confirmation sheet: use to generate a PDF version of the job summary which can then be downloaded and saved/printed.
  • Email affected operators: certain Members request further information before they can provide a response to your enquiry. You can do this directly from the site by clicking the Email affected operators option.
    • This option is only available when these specific LSBUD members are in the vicinity of your search.

Note: The Resubmit and Continue options will not be available if you have not validated your account, or if the enquiry is over 12 months old and has been archived.

The add-ons menu provides additional functionalities as below:

  • Request Base Maps: To keep improving the safe digging process, LSBUD have partnered with emapsite to provide our Users with fast and easy access to Ordnance Survey (OS) Mapping, as well as several other useful datasets at preferential rates.
    As an OS partner, emapsite been working with the nation’s largest asset owners for many years. They understand both mapping and our Users’ requirements and deliver location data in brilliant detail for all kinds of situations.
    Clicking this option will transfer your site extents and User details directly into emapsite’s mapshop, saving you the trouble of logging in, finding and re-drawing your area.
  • Order Your Blue List Top Up: This option helps you access all known utility networks in your search area. The Blue List Top Up is a paid for service delivered by LSBUD to help you retrieve asset information for those utilities which are not yet LSBUD Members.

Once the enquiry has been processed, the affected member utilities will also be sent a notification prompting them to forward their plan information to you. This is normally a quick process for members with automated responses. If you do not hear back from an affected member within a reasonable time frame, please contact them directly using the contact details provided on the confirmation.
